The Prime Ministry has issued new official decisions aimed at supporting national exports and facilitating customs procedures within the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ).1. Extension of Grace Period for National ExportsThe grace period for national export containers at the Aqaba Container Terminal has been extended from 7 days to 14 days. This decision will remain in effect for six (6) months starting from the issuance date.2. Exemption and Fee Reduction for Goods DestructionTaxpayers are granted an exemption from paying JOD 450 out of the standard JOD 500 fee per ton (or fraction thereof) for expired or non-compliant goods, as specified under Paragraph (B) of Article (6) of Instructions No. (14) of 2009. Consequently, a reduced fee of JOD 50 per ton (or fraction thereof) will be collected during the exemption period.This decision is issued pursuant to Paragraph (B) of Article (3) of the Public Funds Exemption Law No. (28) of 2006 and is valid for three (3) months from the date of issuance.Conditions and Procedures:Submission Timeline: The destruction request must be submitted during the exemption validity period. The exemption does not retroactively apply to fees collected prior to the approval date.Cargo Location: Goods must be located within port yards or customs warehouses inside the Aqaba Special Economic Zone.Official Authorization: The destruction decision must be issued by the designated Destruction Committee formed at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).Fee Payment: A reduced fee of JOD 50 per ton or part thereof will be collected during the exemption period.
